[:de]Gestern, am 20. Juni 2011, ging die erste Ausstellung des Kunstvereins caratart e.V. „caratart Episode 1“ im carathotel Basel / Weil am Rhein zu Ende. Und der Auftakt war ein voller Erfolg für alle Beteiligten.
Zum Vernissage Event am 14. Juni durfte der Verein etwa 500 begeisterte und vor allem kunstinteressierte Gäste begrüssen. Nach einführenden Worten von Bürgermeister Klaus Eberhardt lud caratart-Vorstand Željko Holik zur Kunstentdeckung auf den 10 Etagen des Hotels ein. Über 200 Kunstwerke von 19 Künstlerinnen und Künstlern boten eine spektakuläre Vielfalt an junger, zeitgenössischer Kunst. Die Ausstellung vereint dabei internationale Grössen wie Bombolo, Stefan Beltzig, Hendrik „Hendoc“ Docken und Werner Pawlok (die auch als Mentoren des Kunstvereins fungieren) mit wenig bekannteren Künstlern mit enormen Potential.
Nachdem die Besucher sich einen ersten Eindruck von der Ausstellung verschafft hatten, übernahm Kulturamtsleiter Tonio Paßlick das Mikrofon. Überwältigt vom bereits bis dahin Gesehenen und Erlebten warf er seine vorher geschriebene Rede über Bord und improvisierte aus dem Stehgreif. Besonders angetan hatte es ihm Esterina Zarrillo, Regisseurin des Videos „Sweet Dreams“, die ihm erklärte, dass ein solches Video maximal acht Minuten dauern dürfe, da es sonst sein Magie verliert. Und eben jene Magie bekamen die über 500 Zuschauer im Folgenden zu spüren: Auf 250 Quadratmetern Hotelfassade erlebten Sie die Premiere des Videos „Sweet Dreams“. Nach fesselnden 7 Minuten und 46 Sekunden dankte es das Publikum dem Team von Junifrost (Regie: Esterina Zarrillo, Kreation: Roland Olbert, Bombolo) mit stürmischem Applaus.
In einem zweiten Video im gleichen Format wurden zwei ausgewählte Kunstwerke aller Künstler noch einmal vorgestellt. Eine schöne Gelegenheit für viele Besucher noch einmal gezielt die Ausstellung zu besuchen.
Der weitere Verlauf des Abends bot den Gästen die Gelegenheit zum Gespräch. Fast alle teilnehmenden Künstler waren am Abend der Vernissage anwesend und freuten sich über interessierte Gespräche. Tatsächlich konnte die Künstlerin Gabriele Strehlau bereits an diesem ersten Abend zwei ihrer ausgestellten Kunstwerke verkaufen. Ein toller Erfolg!
„Wir waren begeistert von eurem Engagement und eurer Professionalität.“ sagte Gabriele Strehlau im Anschluss an die Veranstaltung. Ein Kompliment für den Kunstverein caratart e.V., der sein Engagement über diesen erfolgreichen Auftakt hinaus natürlich fortsetzen und intensivieren wird.

The organisation welcomed around 500 enthusiasts and above all guests with an interest in art to the preview event on 14 June. After some introductory words by mayor Klaus Eberhardt, caratart’s chairman, Željko Holik, invited those present to discover the art that could be found across the hotel’s 10 floors. Over 200 works of art by 19 artists offered a spectacularly varied range of young, contemporary art. The exhibition united international greats such as Bombolo, Stefan Beltzig, Hendrik “Hendoc” Docken and Werner Pawlok (who also serve as mentors for the organisation) with lesser known artists with enormous potential.
Once the visitors had gained an initial impression of the exhibition, the head of the Office for Culture, Tonio Passlick, took to the microphone. Overwhelmed by what he had seen and experienced so far, he threw his prepared speech overboard and improvised off the cuff. He was particularly impressed by Esterina Zarrillo, the director of the video “Sweet Dreams”, who had explained to him that a video of this type should last for a maximum of eight minutes, as otherwise it would lose its magic. The 500-plus audience were then able to experience this very magic for themselves, as the premiere of the “Sweet Dreams” video was played on the 250 square metres of the hotel façade. After a spell-binding 7 minutes and 46 seconds, the Junifrost team (direction: Esterina Zarrillo, creation: Roland Olbeter, Bombolo) were treated to rapturous applause by the public.
Two selected works of art by each artist were presented again in a second video in the same format. An excellent opportunity for many visitors to once again view the exhibition in more detail.
The remainder of the evening provided the guests with the opportunity for discussion. Almost all of the participating artists were present on the night and were looking forward to interesting discussions. Artist Gabriele Strehlau was even able to sell two of her exhibited works on this very first evening. A fantastic success!
