Der im Oktober 2010 gegründete Münchener Kunstverein caratart e.V. hat mit der Umsetzung seines ersten Großprojektes begonnen. Am 14. Juni 2011, dem Vorabend der ART Basel, wird auf den 10 Etagen des carathotel Basel/Weil am Rhein die Kunstausstellung „caratart Episode 1“ eröffnet. Bis zum 19. Juni werden herausragende Werke von vielversprechenden Nachwuchstalenten und etablierten Künstlern zu sehen sein. Die Initiative zur Vereinsgründung geht auf die Arbeitsgemeinschaft (Arge) carathotels zurück. Wichtiger Pfeiler der Vereinstätigkeit ist das Mentorenprogramm, das junge Talente mit bekannten Künstlern zusammenbringt.
Der Verein caratart e.V. hat das Ziel, talentierten und noch wenig bekannten bildenden Künstlern regelmäßige Ausstellungen zu ermöglichen, damit sie sich einem breiten, internationalen Publikum präsentieren können. Während an Kunsthochschulen bereits Mentorenverhältnisse zwischen Studierenden und Lehrenden gängig sind, sind Mentorenprogramme außerhalb der Hochschullandschaft eher rar. An dieser Stelle setzt caratart e.V. an: „Junge Kunstschaffende brauchen heute mehr denn je nicht nur motivierende Vorbilder, sondern auch Türöffner für die wettbewerbsintensive Kunstszene“, sagt Željko Holik, Vorsitzender von caratart e.V. Der Kunstverein hat als Mentoren bereits die beiden international renommierten Künstler Bombolo und Roland Olbeter gewonnen. Sie und andere etablierte Kunstschaffende werden die Nachwuchskünstler künftig nicht nur inhaltlich oder planerisch begleiten, sondern sie auch bei der so wichtigen Vernetzung mit Akteuren der Kunstszene unterstützen.
Übergeordnete Aufgabe der Kunstförderung und der Vereinsaktivitäten von caratart e.V. ist es, jungen Kunstschaffenden den Einstieg in ein erfolgreiches künstlerisches Berufsleben zu erleichtern. „Kreativtalente sollten die Kunst nicht nur als Berufung, sondern auch als Beruf leben können“, befindet Vereinsvorsitzender Holik. Deshalb wird der Verein den künstlerischen Nachwuchs auch durch gezielte Marketing- und Kommunikationsmaßnahmen unterstützen und ihnen neben Ausstellungen eine Webpräsenz ermöglichen.

Der neu gegründete Kunstverein caratart e.V. will junge und noch wenig renommierte Künstler einer breiten Öffentlichkeit vorstellen und ihnen so die Möglichkeit geben, sich mit wichtigen Akteuren der Kunstszene zu vernetzen. Über die Mentoren von caratart e.V.
Roland Olbeter ist international renommierter Bühnenbildner und Roboterkünstler. Er lebt und arbeitet seit 1986 in Barcelona. Die Arbeit Olbeters zeichnet sich durch eine einzigartige Innovationskraft und die Schaffung „unmöglicher Artefakte“ aus. So realisierte er bereits zahlreiche szenographische Projekte. Derzeit arbeitet er an der Inszenierung der vier Opern des „Ring der Nibelungen“ von Richard Wagner.
Bombolo, mit bürgerlichem Namen Norbert Graubner, ist Maler, Bildhauer und Holzschneider und bezieht seine Inspiration vor allem aus zahlreichen Reisen durch verschiedene Kontinente. Er hat mehrere internationale Ausstellungen und war zudem als Filmemacher und Autor u.a. für das Buch „Neruda Blau“ tätig.

The Munich art organisation, caratart e.V., which was founded in October 2010, has begun implementing its first major project. On 14 June 2011, on the eve of ART Basel, the “caratart Episode 1” art exhibition will open on the 10 floors of the carathotel Basel/Weil am Rhein. Outstanding works of art from promising emerging talents and established artists will be on show until 19 June. The inspiration for the establishment of the organisation came from the carathotels consortium. An important aspect of the organisation’s activities is the mentoring programme, which brings new young talent together with established artists.
The caratart organisation’s aim is to offer talented but as yet little known visual artists the chance to participate in regular exhibitions to enable them to present themselves to a wider international public. Whilst mentoring relationships between students and lecturers are well-established at art academies, mentoring programmes outside of the academic landscape tend to be rare. This is where caratart e.V. comes in: “More than ever today, young artists need not only motivational role models, but also people who will open doors into the highly competitive art scene for them,” says Željko Holik, chair of caratart e.V. The organisation has already attracted two internationally renowned artists – Bombolo and Roland Olbeter – as mentors. In future, they and other established artists will support up-and-coming artists, not only in terms of content and planning, but also with the vitally important aspect of networking with stakeholders in the art scene.
The primary objective of caratart e.V.’s art sponsorship and organisational activities is to facilitate access to a successful professional life for young artists. “Creative talents should be able to experience art not just as a vocation, but also as a career,” says Holik, the organisation’s chairperson. For this reason the organisation will also support the aspiring artists through targeted marketing and communication programmes and, in addition to exhibitions, facilitate a web presence for them.

The inspiration for the organisation came from the carathotels consortium. About caratart e.V.’s mentors
Roland Olbeter is an internationally renowned set designer and robot artist. He has lived and worked in Barcelona since 1986. Olbeter’s work is characterised by a unique inventiveness and the creation of “impossible artefacts”. He has completed numerous scenographic projects, and at the present time is working on the staging of the four “Ring of the Nibelung” operas by Richard Wagner.
Bombolo, otherwise known as Norbert Graubner, is a painter, sculptor and wood carver who draws his main inspiration from his many journeys through different continents. He has held several international exhibitions and has also been active as a film maker and author, including of the book “Neruda Blau”.
