Mit undogmatischer Farb- und Materialauswahl erschließt er dann wieder und wieder willkürlichen Strichs die menschliche Gesichtswelt als festkörperliche Symbolinstanz des Ich-Erfahrenden. [:en]It is the usually unnoticed question for substance in one´s own identity that makes Ben von Stietencron cross the cosmos of Western and Eastern philosophy, teachers and anthropologists, from which he returns to the world of artistic creation. Choosing colours and materials in an undogmatic manner, again and again and with seemingly random strokes he exploits the world of human faces as a solid symbol for the experience of oneself. In this process that is repeating itself in constantly new facets, he witnesses what in his opinion is the base quality of being – „becoming“ – and thus works himself from head to head to the self of man.
